Get stock off the dock and into locations — fast

Inbound is where inventory accuracy is won or lost. Pickpoint turns receiving from a paper-shuffling bottleneck into a scan-driven flow that verifies every carton, captures every batch and expiry date, and tells your team exactly where to put it.

Sound familiar?

Surprise deliveries, slow docks

Trucks arrive with no warning and no paperwork that matches. Your team spends hours counting and keying in what should have been known in advance.

Data entry errors at the door

Every manually typed quantity, batch number or expiry date is a future stock discrepancy — and a future client complaint.

Stock that disappears after receipt

Goods get received, then sit on the dock or end up in the wrong location. Orders show stock that pickers can't find.

Built into the software, not bolted on

Advance Shipping Notices (ASN)

Know what's coming before it arrives, and receive it in seconds.

  • Clients and suppliers send ASNs by file (XML, JSON, CSV, Excel) or API — with pallet- and carton-level detail
  • Scan one ASN pallet or carton code to receive all its lines at once
  • Discrepancies against the ASN are flagged instantly, line by line
  • Import formats are configurable per client — no forcing your customers to change their systems
  • Receiving can be set to require or expect an ASN, per client

Scan-first receiving

One barcode scan captures everything — identity, batch, expiry, serial.

  • GS1 barcode parsing reads GTIN, batch/lot, expiry date, production date and serial number from a single scan
  • Receive onto existing pallets or build new ones on the fly, with pallet labels printed at the dock
  • Optional scan-every-item enforcement for clients that demand piece-level verification
  • Undo and reverse receipts without database surgery — every correction is audited
  • CHEP and Loscam pallet hire tracking captured at receipt, reported automatically

Directed putaway

Stock flows straight from dock to the right location.

  • Automatic location suggestions based on your putaway rules
  • Putaway by pallet or by individual stock, driven from the handheld scanner
  • Open putaway work is queued and visible — nothing gets stranded on the dock
  • Full putaway audit trail: who put what where, and when

Containers & cross-docking

Built for import operations and flow-through freight.

  • Track inbound shipping containers: vessel, voyage, ETA, ocean bill of lading, seal checks, destuff and due-back dates
  • Container unpack charges captured automatically for billing
  • Automatic cross-dock orders: inbound stock flagged for cross-docking flows straight to outbound, with its own monitor screen
  • Under-bond (customs bonded) stock handled natively, with dedicated locations and storage-day tracking

What this means for your warehouse

Same-day dock-to-stock

ASN-coded receiving and directed putaway mean stock is sellable within hours of arrival, not days.

Accuracy from the first scan

Batch, expiry and serial captured at the door — so downstream picking, rotation and recalls just work.

Zero surprises for your clients

Receive advices flow to client systems automatically, and discrepancies surface immediately — not at month-end.

Receiving & Inbound: common questions

Can Pickpoint receive stock without an ASN?

Yes. Stock can be received against a purchase order or checklist directly on the handheld scanner. Advance Shipping Notices are optional and configurable per client — receiving can ignore, expect or require an ASN depending on how each of your clients works.

What does a single barcode scan capture at receiving?

One GS1 barcode scan captures the item (GTIN), batch or lot number, expiry date, production date and serial number in a single action, so there is no separate data entry after scanning.

Can Pickpoint track inbound shipping containers?

Yes. Pickpoint records the container number, vessel, voyage, ETA, ocean bill of lading, seal checks and destuff and due-back dates, and container unpack charges are captured automatically for billing.

Does Pickpoint support cross-docking?

Yes. Inbound stock flagged for cross-docking can automatically create outbound cross-dock orders, and a dedicated monitor screen tracks flow-through freight from receipt to dispatch.
